Course Description:

This 8-hour online course introduces the basics of mental health and psychological first aid in the school and workplace. It includes a discussion on mental health in the school and the workplace setting, dealing with mental health problems, providing immediate mental health or psychological first aid, dealing with a crisis, and referral systems. Designed for psychologists, psychometricians, social workers, professional teachers, guidance counselors, and allied professionals, this equips the participants with knowledge and skills that can help address emerging mental health issues in the school or workplace setting. With the passage of the RA11036 or Philippine Mental Health Act, this course provides important learning to equip and empower professionals to provide much-needed mental health services, in line with and within the scope of their respective professions.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the son-line course, the participants will have the knowledge and skills to deal with emerging mental health issues among individuals in the school and workplace setting. Specifically, the participants will learn how to conduct mental health and psychological first aid, both for emerging mental health problems and for emergency situations. This course will equip participants with the ability to provide immediate/primary MH services and follow referral procedures and systems, when necessary.
