The DSM-5-TR: Understanding the Text Revision of the Manual and its Implications to Clinical and Assessment Psychology

Course Description:
With the release of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fifth Edition-Text Revision (DSM-5-TR) in March 2022, there is a need to update psychology professionals with the changes on the manual and its implication in the clinical and assessment practice. This 8-hour online course aims to equip and educate psychology professionals with knowledge regarding the revisions in the diagnostic manual and how these changes would affect clinical and assessment practice. The course will include discussions on the changes on the DSM-5-TR (diagnostic criteria and categories, specifiers, etc.), how the updated manual will be used in the clinical and assessment settings, and the implications for Philippine Psychologists and Psychometricians who are in the practice in clinical and assessment setting.

Course Objectives:
At the end of this 8-hour online, self-paced course, the participants will be able to:

1. Discuss the revisions on the diagnostic categories and criteria, specifiers, naming, & other sections of the DSM-5-TR;
2. Demonstrate the use of the DSM-5-TR with specific application in the clinical and assessment setting;
3. Apply the concepts, principles, and guidelines of the DSM-5-TR in relation to clinical and assessment psychology practice; and,
4. Integrate the revisions of the DSM-5-TR and the implications of the revisions to their professional practice.
