Course Description:

This six-hour on-line course is an advance module on Psychological First Aid for Schools (PFA-S). PFA-S is a specialized modality of conducting psychological welfare in the school setting. The aim of the on-line course is to equip mental health professionals (psychologists, psychometricians, guidance counselors), teachers, and allied professionals in dealing with emergencies that can happen in school or in the community. This course will provide skills specific to administrators, faculty members, school mental health professionals, and support staff when dealing with crisis in schools. It also includes modules on basic skills in psychosocial support services in the schools.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the course, the learners will have the knowledge and skills to deal with students, faculty, or staff affected by crisis that occurs in the school, or when providing psychological first aid in the school setting. Specifically, the learners will be able to conduct PFA-S when necessary. The learners will be also acquire skills in referral for individuals who have specialized needs for further intervention.
