Course Description:

Basic Mental Health and Psychological First Aid for the School and Workplace

This 8-hour on-line course introduces the basics of mental health and psychological first aid in the school and workplace. It includes a discussion on mental health in the school and the workplace setting, dealing with mental health problems, providing immediate mental health or psychological first aid, dealing with crisis, and referral systems. Designed for psychologists, psychometricians, social workers, professional teachers, guidance counselors, and allied professionals, this equips the participants with knowledge and skills that can help address emerging mental health issues in the school or workplace setting. With the passage of the RA11036 or Philippine Mental Health Act, this course provides an important learning to equip and empower professionals to provide much needed mental health services, in line with and within the scope of their respective professions.

Trends, Techniques, and Issues in the Psychological Assessment of Children

Working with ordinary children requires a huge amount of patience and dedication. However, it requires much more effort to deal with children who have behavioral/emotional problems as well those with some exceptionalities. This course is provided for Psychometricians and Psychologists to understand the similarities and differences in the assessment of at risk children and exceptional children. Discussed in here as well are the basic concepts of different neurodevelopmental disorders, the current state of treatment and education for children in the Philippines, and different techniques used in the assessment of child in different aspects such as cognitive, physical/motor skills, language, social-emotional, and approaches to learning.
